Cancer Insurance Policy Details

Can I get cancer insurance if I have cancer now or have had prior cancer?

A person would need to be cancer free for 5 years (3 years for some cancers) in order to get approved for cancer insurance. There is an additional form that we will send to you that needs to be filled out and signed by your doctor if you have had prior cancer. The underwriting department of the insurance company will determine if a policy can be issued or if there will be any limitations to that policy due to the prior cancer. You will get any paid premiums returned if you apply and are not issued a policy.

What types of questions will be asked on the application?

You will only be asked about your cancer history (if any) and your AIDS/HIV status. There is no medical exam required. There are no family history questions, and no smoking questions.

How soon can my policy go into effect?

There is a 30 day waiting period that begins on the effective date of the policy. If you have a cancer diagnosis within this 30 day waiting period, you may receive benefits after two years, or you can void your policy and receive a full refund for any premiums paid.

What is the cost?

Monthly Premiums per Unit

 Age  Individual  Family
 18-49  $10.40  $18.00
 50-59  $15.00  $25.50
 60-64  $19.50  $34.50
 65-79  $23.00  $39.50

Note: Policies and Prices vary by state.

There are several factors which will determine your final cost. Prices vary depending on the benefit level you select, your age, whether you are applying for individual or family coverage, and by the state in which you reside. A detailed brochure with a complete price list will be mailed to you when you fill out the "Request for Application" page.

How are premiums paid?

Premiums can be paid on a monthly or annual basis. If you choose monthly, your premium will be drafted from your checking or savings account.

Can my family be covered also?

You can choose from either individual or family coverage. Dependent children can be on the policy until the age of 21 or until they marry. They can be covered up to age 25 if they are a full-time student at an educational institution of higher learning.
